From our award winning hotel, the Middleton Inn, on the grounds of the historic 1600-acre Middleton Plantation and Gardens, we will explore a variety of beautiful natural areas and preserves and also enjoy the charm of the historic district of Charleston. The azaleas should be near their peak blooming time and the landscape will be aglow with a rainbow of color. Step out of the door of the hotel and paths lead to the adjacent Middleton Gardens and the Historic Plantation. The gardens are the oldest in the country and contain an extensive collection of azaleas plus several enormous live oak trees that are over 800 years old. Savannah will be in full bloom as well. Experience two and a half centuries of history as you travel along cobblestone streets beneath moss-draped oaks, and experience the Old South up close.
